About
Still blocks animated images and motion effects in Safari, giving you a calm, static browsing experience. What it blocks: • Animated GIFs — replaced with a static placeholder. Includes GIFs served via image-proxy URLs (Next.js, Cloudinary) and cross-origin CDNs that often slip past simpler blockers • Animated WebP and APNG — detected by inspecting file headers; static images display normally. Catches APNGs served with a .png extension, animated AVIFs, and animated SVGs loaded as images • Animated canvas backdrops — WebGL shader and generative-art animations, the kind of full-page motion no image blocker can touch, are frozen on a still frame. Static canvas charts render normally • Inline video product previews used as animated-image substitutes — Google Shopping's spinning 3D product cards and similar muted, autoplaying clips that bypass Safari's autoplay control • CSS transitions that create subliminal smooth motion (carousel crossfades, opacity pulses, sliding banners) • CSS background-image animations • SVG animations • JavaScript-driven page-load flourishes — jQuery `.animate` sweep effects, "curtain bar" reveals, and similar attention-grabbing intros • Animations inside embedded frames (ads, social embeds) — covered by the same rules as the main page • Per-site rule pack — sites with known animation patterns (e.g. president.mit.edu's hero curtain) get tailored protection without breaking the rest of the page What it doesn't break: • Static images (JPEG, PNG, SVG, WebP) display normally • Canvas apps you actually use — games, maps, drawing tools — stay fully interactive; a click or keypress hands the canvas back to you • Videos you start yourself keep playing; only autoplay-style motion is stopped • Page layout and functionality are preserved — replacements never shift the page • Per-site allowlist lets you enable animations on sites you trust • Global on/off toggle in the extension popup Built for people with vestibular sensitivities, migraine triggers, or anyone who just wants the web to hold still. Still runs entirely on-device. No data is collected, transmitted, or stored.

Still now freezes chart fill-in animations inside web components (shadow DOM) — like the animated pay-breakdown pie chart on ADP payroll sites. Charts appear fully drawn instead of sweeping into view.
