■ New features - Background listening now prepares books on the Neural Engine. It is much faster, and it keeps going with the screen locked. - You don't need to prepare a book to listen to it: Read Aloud starts right away, and Natural Voices keep reading with the screen locked. Preparing adds CarPlay, 15 and 30 second skips and lower battery use. - Natural voices no longer need the 327 MB engine download, because the engine now comes with the app. - Edit Library opens with Layout tiles: Grid, List or Compact. - Show Sections in Edit Library hides the Library's section titles, so every sort becomes one run of books. - Edit Book has an ISBN field, so Hardcover and Find Better Details can match the exact edition. ■ Improvements - Preparing a book slows down while the phone is warm, in use, in Low Power Mode or on battery, so the phone stays cool and usable. Plug in for full speed. - The Preparing now card has Play, Pause and Cancel buttons, and shows the engine and how fast it prepares. - The Summary, Add Books and Group Series switches at the top of Edit Library share one card. ■ Fixes - Choosing Monthly or Yearly on the plans page no longer closes the app on some iPhones. - The page curl no longer shows a bright strip at the fold on light themes, and it settles more smoothly. - Going back from a page of Themes & Settings or Settings no longer stalls. - On iPad, Two Columns shows the right books after you change the sort. - With the Clear and Tinted icon looks, the app icon's cover no longer fades into the background. - In English, Help Center search finds topics by what they cover, not only by their titles. ■ Localization - All new text is natively translated across all 20 supported languages.
