About
Whaile (yes, like the whale) swallows files whole. The multi-gigabyte logs and text files that crash TextEdit and choke VS Code open here in about a second. The ones you'd normally only dare to touch from the terminal. It's native on Mac, iPad and iPhone. Whaile memory-maps the file instead of loading it into RAM, so an 8 GB log opens right away and scrolls smoothly from the first line to the last. No "file too large" error, no progress bar to stare at. WHAT IT DOES • Opens 1 GB, 8 GB or bigger files in seconds • Scrolls smoothly, even 50 million lines in • Searches the whole file and highlights every match • Jumps straight to any line number • Barely touches your RAM: the system pages data in and out as you scroll • Sandboxed and offline, so your files never leave your device WHO IT'S FOR • SREs and platform engineers digging through giant nginx, syslog and crash logs • Data engineers spot-checking a 2 GB JSONL, NDJSON or CSV dump before running the real pipeline • Anyone who got sent a log or an export that's too big for their usual editor LET YOUR AI READ THE FILE On Mac, Whaile has a built-in MCP server: switch it on in Settings and AI assistants like Claude can search and read huge files directly, without blowing through their context window. Point your agent at a 10 GB incident log and ask what went wrong, instead of scrolling through it yourself. WHY IT'S FAST • Memory-mapped access: nothing gets loaded or copied up front • A sparse line index, built in the background, makes jump-to-line instant • Byte-level search written for files that don't fit in memory Whaile is read-only on purpose. It does one job: open, read and search the files that are too big for everything else.
