A field journal for backyard maple producers. Sugaring tracks the whole freeze-thaw season — every tap hole, every boil, every bud break — in one warm amber ledger. THREE MODULES • TAPS — log tree species (Sugar, Red, Black Maple), trunk DBH, tap hole face, hole depth, daily flow and per-tap totals. • BOIL — record batch number, in-pan °Brix, concentration ratio, finished litres and the grade of the syrup (Golden, Amber, Dark). • SEASON — count freeze nights and flow days, follow growing degree days (GDD) and watch bud break. HOW TO ENTER Every form is built from sliders, segmented pickers, steppers and text fields. Drag a slider for DBH or daily flow, tap a segment for species or grade, step the ratio one at a time, then SAVE RECORD. READING THE SUGAR DROP BAND The home page strings one sugar drop per season day onto an amber rope. Drop height follows the litres gathered that day, drop colour follows the °Brix (pale cream for thin sap, deep amber for sweet). Hollow drops mark a white boil day, snowflakes above the rope mark freeze nights and small arrows below mark flow days. BUD BREAK = SEASON OVER When buds swell the sap turns buddy and the syrup is ruined. The red vertical line marks that day — every drop to the right is greyed out and the gate card switches to CLOSE SEASON. DATA STORAGE Everything lives on this device in NSUserDefaults.
