Learn to sew properly, step by step: a two-year sewing course that takes you from threading your first needle to sewing your own clothes. The first two months are free. A COURSE, NOT A LIST OF VIDEOS Puntada is an ordered course, like the one you would follow in a good sewing workroom: a new lesson every week and a short session every day that the app prepares for you, with practice on a scrap and a quick review. Ten minutes a day beat a whole Sunday afternoon. OVER 200 ANIMATED ILLUSTRATIONS Every lesson comes with drawings that build themselves in front of you: seams seen from the side, hems, corners, darts, gathers, zips, buttonholes, the machine and its parts, how to measure yourself and every finished project. And workroom mode shows the steps one at a time, big, with the screen kept on so you can follow them with the needle in your hand. STITCHES SEWN BEFORE YOUR EYES Every stitch in the course is animated: you see where the needle goes in, what shows on the right side, what runs underneath and what hides in the fold. Backstitch, blanket stitch, ladder stitch, herringbone, darning, sashiko, zigzag, overlock and more. PROJECTS YOU WILL USE A lavender sachet, napkins, a cushion cover, a tote bag, an apron, a lined zip pouch, pyjama trousers, a beach bag, skirts, a T-shirt, a blouse, a dress, curtains, a patchwork quilt, a backpack, trousers and a lined jacket. Each project comes with its cutting layout and tells you how much fabric to buy. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN • By hand: threading, running stitch, backstitch, overcasting, blanket stitch, ladder stitch and sewing on buttons. • The machine: threading it, sewing straight, tension, seams and finishes, corners, curves and hems. • Closures and details: centred and invisible zips, buttonholes, snaps, elastic, pockets, bias binding and linings. • Mending: unpicking, hems, split seams, darning, patches, sashiko, replacing zips and taking in waists. • Patterns: measuring yourself, choosing a size, reading and tracing patterns, darts, gathers, waistbands and fitting toiles. • Knits and garments: sewing stretch fabrics, the overlocker, facings, sleeves and necklines. • Dressmaking: trousers with a fly, lined jackets and a garment you design yourself. WORKROOM TOOLS • My measurements: saves your measurements and suggests your pattern size. • Needles and thread: which needle, thread and stitch length for each fabric. • Centimetres and inches, with the fractions on a tape measure. • Calculators for circle skirts, curtains and bias binding.
