Astro Night Companion

About

Astro Night Companion plans your astrophotography nights: whether to go out, where to go, what to shoot, with which exposures and in which filter order. TONIGHT AND FORECAST • A 0-100 verdict for the night, the best window, dark night, clouds, seeing, humidity, wind and Moon, hour by hour. • 5-night observability, with the reasons behind each score. • Météo-France models in France, Open-Meteo elsewhere, seeing computed from the jet stream, 7Timer as a backup. NEARBY SITE • Light pollution map (David Lorenz atlas) and a search for the best dark site reachable by car, away from dwellings, with directions and the weather checked at the site. TARGETS AND EXPOSURES • Targets from the catalogue (Messier, NGC, IC, Sharpless, LDN, vdB, Abell…) ranked for your sky, altitude, Moon and weather. • Exposures, number of subs and filter order computed for your equipment (sensor, focal length, aperture, filters, bandwidths). • AstroBin reference (IOTD, Top Pick) and its settings transposed to your sky. • “My target”: type a code and the app finds the place, the date and the window. MEASUREMENT AND HORIZON • Measure the sky background at the zenith with the iPhone camera, like an SQM-L: laid screen down, one beep at the start, two at the end. • Survey your horizon (roofs, trees, terrain): hidden targets are set aside. N.I.N.A. EXPORT • A sequence for the N.I.N.A. advanced sequencer: cooling, wait for the start time, PHD2 calibration, slew, focus, centering, guiding, dithering, meridian flip, reminders. YOUR DATA No account, no ads, no tracking. Your settings and journal stay on the device. Ten languages: French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic. Red night mode preserves night vision.
