About
Prose & Pigment turns a Markdown, text or code file into a typeset page, with the code in colour. I built it to read what my agents write. It never edits the file, syncs it or sends it anywhere. If your AI agent saves its work as files, or you save a chat as a file, this is where you read it. Notes and READMEs work just as well. WHAT IT SHOWS • Headings, lists, quotes, links and emphasis • Code blocks in colour, in 19 languages, including Swift, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, Go, SQL and shell • Source files too: open a .py or .swift file and read it in colour • Tables • Callouts • Front matter at the top of a note is hidden, so you see the writing YOUR FILES • Opens Markdown, plain-text and source-code files from Files, including iCloud Drive • JSON, YAML, XML, HTML, CSS and TOML files open too, shown as code • Files in iCloud Drive that aren’t on your device yet download when you open them • Web links open in Safari THEMES • More than 30 themes, light and dark • It opens in Pigment, the house theme: Paper in light, Ink in dark • Pick one light theme and one dark theme, and the page follows your device • A High Contrast pair is included • Each theme pairs a reading font with a code font • Every font is built in and works offline • The text follows the text size set on your device PRIVATE • No account and no sign-in • No analytics and no ads • Your files are read on your device and never uploaded • The app loads nothing from the internet WHAT IT DOESN’T DO It doesn’t edit, it doesn’t sync, and it keeps no library. It reads the file you hand it. It doesn’t take pasted or shared text yet; for now it opens files. I make Prose & Pigment alone, under the name Crossed Keys Co. Requires iOS 18 or later. Works on iPhone and iPad.
