Depth of Field: Apertia

About

Apertia is a depth of field calculator for iPhone: set your camera, lens, aperture and focus distance, and it shows the near and far limits of sharpness, the total depth of field and the hyperfocal distance at once. SEE THE SHARP ZONE • Turn knurled lens rings for aperture, focal length and focus distance • A side-view diagram draws the sharp zone, the hyperfocal point and infinity as you turn • Near limit, far limit, total depth of field and hyperfocal distance in metres or feet • Thin-lens formulas, the same model lens makers use for their depth of field scales YOUR CAMERA, YOUR NUMBERS • Six sensor formats built in: full frame, APS-C, Canon APS-C, Micro Four Thirds, 1-inch and medium format • Each has its own circle of confusion and crop factor; a strict CoC option halves it for large prints • Save a camera body and lens as a kit, and Apertia remembers the last setting of each BOKEH PREVIEW (PRO) • Portrait, landscape and street scenes blurred layer by layer with the real blur-disc size for your settings • Compare f/1.8 and f/8 before you shoot, and slide the background closer or further away HYPERFOCAL TABLE (PRO) • Every common focal length and aperture for your sensor in one table • Tap a cell to set that lens and aperture and focus at its hyperfocal distance A/B COMPARE (PRO) • Pin one setting as B, change the other and keep both sharp zones on the diagram PRIVATE AND OFFLINE No account, no server, no sign-up. Apertia works offline and your kits stay on your iPhone; it goes online only for App Store purchases.
