WhatRock: Rock Identifier

About

Snap a rock. See what it might be - and how sure we are. WhatRock identifies common rocks, minerals and fossils from a photo and shows educational field notes: the rock class or mineral group, a typical Mohs hardness, lookalikes to check against, and simple field tips. Not a gem lab. Not an appraisal. WHAT YOU GET - Camera identification of common rocks, crystals, minerals and fossils - A confidence level (High, Medium or Low) on every result - When it is not sure, the closest matches instead of one confident guess - Field notes from our own field guide: class, Mohs hardness, luster, streak, lookalikes, tips - A collection of your finds, with notes, and a shareable ID card - The complete offline field guide: 90 rocks, minerals and fossils - No ads FREE - 8 starter entries in the field guide - Start with a free trial to try identification before you pay IMPORTANT Educational identification only - not a laboratory analysis, an appraisal, or a guarantee of identity. Accuracy varies with lighting, photo quality and the specimen. Diamonds, gems, gold and meteorites are always shown at Low confidence with a caution, because only a lab can confirm them. Always follow local laws and land rules before collecting; collecting is prohibited in US national parks. Identification requires WhatRock Premium, an auto-renewing subscription; a free trial is offered where eligible. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when the trial ends or at confirmation of purchase. It renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel any time in your Apple ID subscription settings. Terms of Use: https://www.whatrock.app/terms.html Privacy Policy: https://www.whatrock.app/privacy.html
