The wolf is waiting below – the safe beam is up top. In between, a little animal hangs from the rope and needs your help! Put your finger anywhere on the screen and circle clockwise: that turns the crank, the gears rattle, and the animal rises bit by bit. Stop cranking and the rope slips back – faster and faster. So keep going! It starts with a mouse. Then come the hamster, chick, hedgehog, rabbit, cat, hen, dog, sheep, goat, pig, cow, horse, bear and elephant. Each animal is bigger and heavier than the last: the rope stretches, springs and creaks under the load. The wolf never gives up: he snaps at their feet, climbs the beam and jumps, rams the post head-first so the rope slips, bites the gearbox so the crank jams or runs backwards – and howls the animals into a panic. No two rounds are the same. If he does catch one, nothing bad happens: the animal wriggles free with an "Oof!" and dashes away, leaving the wolf baffled. Then it's time to try again!
