About
Maglaro. Matuto ng Tagalog. Salitaan is a barangay of ten word games for learning Tagalog, drawn like a Filipino komiks. Each game is a place in the neighborhood, and each one is built on how Tagalog actually works: syllables, not letters; affixes you slide into a word; verb forms you steer a jeepney by; a script you paint with a brush. THE TEN GAMES • Tumbang Tsinelas – hear the word, knock down its picture with a slipper, in the kanto, the mall and the city • Sipa Syllables – kick the sipa once for every pantig • Sari-Sari Store – the customer asks in Tagalog, you fill the basket • Jeepney Rush – kumain, kumakain, kakain: put the kid on the jeepney marked kahapon, ngayon or bukas • Singit! – slice a fruit-stand word open where UM, IN, MAG or MA squeezes in • Bahay Kubo Garden – plant the song, one vegetable at a time • Bugtong of the Day – Lola reads a new riddle every day; pick the answer card • Parol – trace the word's letters on the star lantern • Baybayin Brush – paint each syllable in the old Filipino script on the mural wall • Aswang Night – watch which creature carries the picture, then bonk it EVERY WORD SPOKEN ALOUD Every word and every customer speaks in Filipino, with stress checked against the dictionary. Hear it, see the picture, and split it into syllables. SALITAAN, THE WORD COLLECTION Every word you meet goes into your collection with its picture, its syllables and its sound. Stars collect on the map, place by place, and a new BEST is celebrated. A NEW BUGTONG EVERY DAY Turn on the 5 PM reminder and Lola's riddle of the day arrives as a notification. GOOD TO KNOW • All ten games are free to play. Nothing is locked. • No accounts, no sign-in, no chat, no links out. Progress stays on the device. • Short ads appear only between rounds, never during play, and are never personalized. One purchase, Buong Barangay, turns them off for good, for the whole family through Family Sharing. • The interface can be Tagalog or English. The words are always Tagalog. • Made for iPhone and iPad. Made by Kanto Projects for the Philippines, and for everyone keeping their Tagalog alive far from home.
