About
NextTrain Boston shows the next MBTA commuter rail trains and ferries from your station, offline, in one tap. Pick your line once. The stations of that line are listed in order, from South Station or North Station outward, so the one you need is a tap away. Open a station and you get the departure board: time, track when known, direction, and the final stop of every train. Tap a train to see every stop with its time. Set your commute and stop looking things up. Tell the app your home station and your work station; before your switch hour it shows trains from home, after it, trains back. The Home Screen widget does the same and updates as trains leave, so a glance tells you whether to hurry. Ferries are lines too: Charlestown, Hingham, Hingham/Hull, East Boston, Lynn, Winthrop, Quincy and Winthrop/Quincy, with their piers as stations. Everything works without a connection. The full timetable is inside the app, and the date and time controls let you check tomorrow morning or next Saturday. Also on Apple Watch: your stations, the board and every stop of a train on your wrist. Schedules come from the MBTA's public GTFS feed under the MassDOT developer license. NextTrain Boston is made by AnswerSolutions LLC and is not affiliated with the MBTA; check mbta.com for service alerts and track assignments.
