Import Markdown Files opens its picker again. On iOS 26 and earlier, choosing it opened nothing at all, so a Markdown file could only come in as part of a folder; Import a Markdown Folder beside it always worked. Both entries open a picker of their own now, and the recipes in a file you choose still open for review before anything is saved. Two things a scanned card got wrong are right: a card whose title starts with a possessive now names only the cook it came from, instead of taking the first word of the dish into their name as well, and a corn pudding is filed under Sides rather than under Desserts. A photograph printed in a cookbook or on a recipe sheet is turned the way it was taken, and all of it is there. One taken with the camera upside down printed upside down, and any photo taller than its frame was cropped to a band across the middle; a photo is given a frame of its own shape now, so nothing is cut off and nothing is stretched. If you are coming from an older version, here is what the last update brought: Recipes are now filed under their courses as they come in, scanned, saved from a link or imported from a file: Breakfast, Soups & Stews, Main Dishes, Desserts and more, with Quick & Easy and Weeknight where they fit. The recipes already in your library are filed the same way once, adding to their tags without changing yours. Filters find a recipe whatever its tags call it, and the Library can now sort by category. Choose exactly which recipes go into a family cookbook. Making one with MealStash Pro now starts with Choose Recipes: tick the recipes you want, starting from the ones the Library is showing, with a search to find the rest. Importing a folder of recipes saves them far faster. A folder of more than 200 now comes in with a count as it goes and a Stop that keeps what has arrived, and importing the same folder again skips the recipes already in your library. Also: a photo in a cookbook you export keeps its shape instead of being stretched to fit, a timer now rings and buzzes until you stop it, a step that only refers to an earlier step's time no longer offers one, and a recipe saved from the web keeps the steps its author wrote. In case you missed it, recipes now sync between your devices through your own iCloud storage, so recipe sync no longer stops at about 100 recipes imported from the web. Photos still don't sync. Please update every device that shares your recipes: a device still on an older version syncs recipes the older way, and once your recipes pass about 100 imported from the web, it stops getting recipe changes.

About

Your family recipe book, kept and cooked from. MealStash is a recipe keeper and meal planner for the recipes that matter: the handwritten cards in the tin, the links you meant to save, the dinners you make every week. Scan them, save them, plan the week, shop one list, and with Pro, make them into a family cookbook to print and pass down. SCAN THE HANDWRITING YOU GREW UP WITH Photograph a stained index card, a magazine clipping, a church cookbook page. Apple Vision reads the ingredients, fractions and steps on your device, in your own languages, and keeps the card photo beside the recipe, so the handwriting survives. Anything it was unsure of is flagged for you to check. No image is uploaded. FAMILY COOKBOOKS & RECIPE CARDS (PRO) Choose the recipes and MealStash makes them into a cookbook PDF with a cover, contents and chapter dividers, to print or share. Or export press-ready 4×6 recipe cards. A single recipe can be sent as a file that opens straight into MealStash on another phone. MEAL PLANNER & SMART GROCERY LIST Plan the week, Sunday to Saturday, and turn it into one shopping list. An ingredient several recipes call for becomes one line where they measure it the same way, grouped by store section. Pro hands the list to Apple Reminders. SAVE RECIPES FROM LINKS AND FILES Paste a link and MealStash reads the recipe from the page, or paste the recipe text from a note or a message. Markdown files come in too, one recipe or a whole folder of them, like the recipes an AI assistant writes or a notes app exports. A folder of over 200 comes in with a count and a Stop, skipping recipes you already have. However a recipe arrives, MealStash keeps the ingredients, yields and instructions, files it under its course, and leaves the life story behind. Long runs of directions are broken into shorter steps, and where Apple Intelligence is available your iPhone's own model helps. ARM'S-LENGTH COOKING MODE For messy hands and hot stoves. Cooking Mode shows one step at a time in type you can read across the counter, keeps the screen awake, and brings that step's ingredients up beside it. Recipes made in stages show each stage's name above its steps. LIVE ACTIVITY TIMERS ON IPHONE Run several kitchen countdowns at once without losing your place. Each keeps counting on the Lock Screen, up to five at a time, and on models with a Dynamic Island the next to finish takes the island. KITCHEN HELP (FREE SAMPLES, FULL LIBRARY WITH PRO) Substitutions, fixes for a split sauce, techniques and reference charts, all inside the app, no connection needed. ZERO-LOGIN SYNC, AND A BACKUP YOU KEEP With iCloud on, recipe text, meal plans and your grocery list sync between your iPhone and iPad through your Apple Account. Recipes use your own iCloud storage and no longer stop at about 100; plans, the list and older versions' recipe copy share MealStash's 1 MB. Photos do not sync. No account, no server of ours anywhere. Back the library up to one file with the photos in it, restore it on a new phone, or erase it here and in iCloud; your other devices keep their own copies and can sync them back. MEALSTASH PRO The free tier is genuinely usable and has no ads: 10 saved recipes, 5 filled meal-plan slots and 15 grocery items, with the planner and aisle-sorted grocery list included. Pro lifts every cap and unlocks Reminders sync, sharing and printing a recipe, cookbook export and the full Kitchen Help library. Monthly, yearly or a one-time Lifetime unlock, all with Apple Family Sharing. Saved recipes stay readable and cookable even if a subscription lapses. PRIVATE & LOCAL-FIRST Scanning, parsing, PDF rendering and any Apple Intelligence tidying happen on your device. We do not track you, collect personal data, or sell advertising — there is nowhere for it to go.
