Beyond UV

About

Beyond UV helps you protect your skin when you're outside. Tap Start now as you head out, and Beyond UV counts down to your next sunscreen check and reminds you when it's time to reapply. It also shows today's UV Index alongside UVA Context, Beyond UV's modeled estimate of UVA conditions, so you can see more of the story than the UV Index alone. SUNSCREEN REMINDERS, ONE TAP AWAY • Tap Start now when you head outside. No setup, no questions first • Record sunscreen in one tap: applied now, applied earlier, or not using • A ring counts down to your next sunscreen check • Get a reminder when it's time to reapply • Follow the countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island with a Live Activity • Tap Reapplied or I'm inside right from the Lock Screen • Swimming or sweating? Activity-aware guidance helps you know when to check again YOUR OUTINGS, REMEMBERED • Every outing is saved when you tap I'm inside: when you went out, when you came in, and when you applied sunscreen • Look back by day in History, and edit or delete any outing • Saved on your iPhone only. Never uploaded or shared SEE TODAY'S UV CLEARLY • UV Index and current level at a glance, with a page color that matches the level • UVA Context, shown as its own separate signal • Hourly UV Index and UVA Context for the next 5 days, with temperature and conditions • Plain guidance for the conditions right now • Swipe between your saved places FLEXIBLE? PLAN FOR LATER If your timing is flexible, Beyond UV compares the forecast across the day and shows how moving the same outing can lower forecast UV exposure. • Better times today and tomorrow • Estimated percentage reduction versus a higher-UV time • Plan an outing for later and still start one now. Your plan keeps its own reminder WIDGETS • Home Screen widgets in small, medium and large sizes • See your reapply time while you're out, or the day's peak UV and when it eases • The large widget shows 12 hours of UV Index and the next days' peaks LEARN THE ESSENTIALS Clear, sourced answers about SPF, reapplying, cars and windows, cloudy days, kids, medications and more, plus how Beyond UV's estimates work. ABOUT THE ESTIMATES The UV Index comes from Apple Weather, or an on-device estimate when live data isn't available. UVA Context is Beyond UV's modeled estimate, not a direct measurement, and is never combined with the UV Index into a single score. Timing comparisons estimate forecast UV across an outing to compare times of day; they don't define a "safe" amount of sun. Sunscreen reminders support good habits and don't guarantee protection. Follow the directions on your sunscreen label, and ask a healthcare professional about your own skin.
