Stopdown: Depth of Field

About

Stopdown shows what will be sharp — as a drawing, not a table. Set your camera, focal length, aperture and focus distance. The sharpness band redraws instantly: near limit, far limit, total depth, and how much of it sits in front of the focus point and behind it. Hyperfocal distance is always on screen, so you know where to focus to reach infinity. FREE • Depth of field for any sensor format, from medium format to phone • The sharpness band drawn to scale, with the numbers beside it • Hyperfocal distance and the split in front of and behind focus • Works offline. No account, no ads, no subscription STOPDOWN PRO — ONE PURCHASE, NO SUBSCRIPTION • Focus stacking planner: how many frames and what step to cover a range • Pick the aperture from the depth you need — the calculation, reversed • Diffraction limit and field of view • 372 camera bodies, each with its own blur limit • Saved presets: your gear in one tap • Manual blur limit for large prints, 4K and 8K delivery WHY THE NUMBERS CAN BE TRUSTED Results use the standard circle of confusion — the sensor diagonal divided by 1442, the criterion behind an acceptably sharp 8×10″ print at arm's length. The Accuracy section in Settings shows the formula, the assumptions and where the model stops being exact, so you can check the app instead of believing it. PRIVACY Every calculation runs on your device. There is no account and no network call to work. Anonymous usage statistics help us see where people get stuck; you can switch them off in Settings. iPhone only. Metric and imperial units, both with the notation your region uses.
