About
Squarecut is a feet-inch-fraction calculator for people who build things. Type a measurement the way you write it, 12' 3-1/2", and get an answer you can cut to. EXACT, NOT ROUNDED Every length is held as an exact fraction and only rounded when it is shown, to the fraction you work in: sixteenths for framing, thirty-seconds or sixty-fourths for finish work. Divide eight feet into thirds and multiply back and you get eight feet. When an answer will not fit your fraction, the app says so with a ≈ instead of quietly rounding. THE CALCULATOR IS FREE. ALL OF IT. • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in feet, inches and fractions, or in millimeters • Length times length is an area in square feet. Three lengths make a volume, with cubic yards alongside for ordering concrete • A percent key for waste factors: 468 sq ft plus 10 percent, done • A tape that keeps every calculation, survives closing the app, and lets you tap any result to use it again • Long press any number to copy it, or share the whole tape as a cut list • A square root key, for the diagonal that proves a slab, a deck or a wall layout square • Works with no signal, because a crawlspace has none • VoiceOver, Larger Text and a hardware keyboard on iPad FOUR SOLVERS, FREE FOR 21 DAYS, THEN ONE PAYMENT Stairs, roof, board feet and layout unlock together. Try all four free for 21 days, then keep them for good with a single purchase. No subscription, ever, and nothing is charged automatically. • Stairs: total rise to riser count, riser height, treads, total run and the stringer length, with the residential limits checked • Roof: run and pitch to rafter line length, rise and slope angle • Board feet: nominal size and quantity to a lumber order • Layout: span and on-center spacing to a piece count, with the last bay The calculator never stops working and never asks for money. The paid part is the solvers, and you pay for them once. Squarecut is new. If anything is wrong or missing, Send feedback in Settings goes straight to the person who made it.
