About

Ingredient Decoder turns a shelf of skincare products into a clear answer to one question: what should I use tonight, and what shouldn't go on together? Add a product by photographing its printed ingredient list or pasting it in. The app recognises the active ingredients it knows — retinoids, exfoliating acids, vitamin C, niacinamide, benzoyl peroxide, peptides and more — and every feature below works from those. WHAT TO USE TONIGHT Your morning and evening routines order themselves by the standard layering rules (thinnest to thickest, sunscreen last). The Tonight card builds the evening plan from your routine, any active you are introducing, your skin-cycling night and barrier recovery — and says what to skip and why. CHEMISTRY CHECK Pick products and every pair of actives is checked against an evidence-tiered interaction list: avoid, use with care, fine, or a great pairing, each with the reason and a practical fix such as splitting morning and evening or alternating nights. No fear scores — old myths like vitamin C versus niacinamide are called out as myths. INTRODUCE STRONG ACTIVES SAFELY The phased introduction planner builds a week-by-week schedule for retinol, acids and other strong actives, calibrated to how sensitive your skin is. Check-ins hold the ramp back when your skin isn't comfortable yet. A purge-or-breakout check uses your own plan dates, and a barrier checklist can switch the routine into a 10-day recovery mode. SKIN JOURNAL A quick daily log of your routine, how your skin feels and any irritation feeds a streak, a 28-day consistency map and an honest note about when results usually show. INGREDIENT LIBRARY Plain-English entries for more than 30 actives: what each one does, typical strength, morning or evening, suitability for acne-prone, sensitive and dry skin, and the evidence behind it. The goals you choose put the actives that address them first. WORKS WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT Everything above works as soon as you open the app, saved on your phone. Creating a free account keeps your shelf safe and on your other devices. Reading a label photo and Ask the Chemist need an account, because they run on a secure server as you. FREE AND DECODER PRO Free forever: the ingredient library, both routines, conflict warnings, two-product checks, skin cycling, barrier recovery, the journal and streaks, one phased introduction at a time, up to 12 products and 3 label photo reads a week. Decoder Pro adds an unlimited shelf, no weekly cap on label photo reads, checking your whole shelf at once, unlimited phased introductions, pattern watch (which active your irritation days have in common), the weekly skin report, and Ask the Chemist — questions answered in plain language from your own shelf, routines and journal. Decoder Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews at the same price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. Ingredient Decoder is general skincare education, not medical advice. It does not diagnose or treat any condition; talk to a dermatologist or doctor about prescription products, pregnancy or persistent skin problems.
