Most aurora apps forecast. AuroraFinder looks. We run cameras under the Icelandic sky. They watch the night and if they see the northern lights, your phone gets a notification with the photo it just took. No KP index to interpret and no cloud cover to second-guess while waiting out in the cold. HOW IT WORKS Pin a location. That is the only thing we need. When a camera within about 25 km of your pin detects aurora, you get an alert with the image. Open the map to see available cameras around you, the area each one covers, and see activity for other nearby cameras in the last 24 hours. ALERTS THAT RESPECT YOUR NIGHT Detections are graded on five levels, from Very low to Very strong. Set the level you care about and everything weaker stays silent. Perfect if you only want to be woken up for something worth getting out of bed for. Alerts pause automatically for 15 minutes unless their strength level increases. You can also mute the app for the night or longer. The Alarm can be customized with sound, vibration and a lit screen. BUILT FOR ICELAND Our cameras are only in Iceland. Cameras are live near the capital area, and the map in the app always shows the current network. Travel outside the country and alerts pause on their own and resume when you come back. Nothing to switch off, nothing to remember. A RECORD OF EVERY NIGHT Every detection a camera makes is kept. Coverage, time and location is stored to build a continuous archive of aurora activity over Iceland. We use it to study how the northern lights behave here, to make the alerts sharper and help Aurora fans plan around their trips. That data is written by the cameras to the cloud, not by your phone. PRIVACY No account. No name, no email address, no phone number. No advertising and no third-party analytics of any kind. Your location is used in the foreground only, once, to place your notification pin. You are never tracked. Everything is stored in the European Union, and "Forget me" in Settings deletes your device from our systems immediately. ACCESS AuroraFinder is invite-only while the camera network grows around partner hotels and tour operators. Codes are free. Your hotel or tour operator issues one if they are part of the network, and anyone can request a code by writing to contact@aurorafinder.is.
