Stud Finder: Metal Scan

About

Find studs before you drill — by spotting the metal already in the wall. Stud Finder uses your iPhone magnetometer to detect iron nearby: screws, nails, and pipes. It cannot see wood. A stud is where fasteners line up. Hold the phone parallel to the wall, a finger’s width away. Walk slowly. The needle shows how likely metal is nearby. Calibrate away from the wall, then mark the peak and take it to the drill. A built-in vertical level helps you hang a shelf or TV straight. WHAT IT DOES • Live metal signal while you scan • Haptic feedback as the signal gets stronger • Peak marker after you calibrate • Vertical level for hanging WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • Not an x-ray and not a camera through the wall • Does not see wooden studs directly — only metal fasteners and pipes • The needle is a chance of nearby iron, not a guarantee HOW TO USE 1. Tap Start Scan 2. Hold the phone parallel; don’t scrape the paint 3. Calibrate away from metal 4. Sweep slowly and mark the strongest point SUBSCRIPTION Stud Finder offers auto-renewable subscriptions (weekly, with an optional intro week, and yearly) that unlock live wall scans.
