About

Meteor showers are easy to miss. The peak can fall at 3am, the radiant can sit low until after midnight, and moonlight can drown all but a handful of them. Skycharted does that arithmetic for your exact spot on Earth and hands you a plan. SKY EVENTS, PLANNED FOR WHERE YOU STAND • Every major meteor shower: Quadrantids, Lyrids, Eta Aquariids, Perseids, Orionids, Leonids, Geminids and more • Lunar and solar eclipses, listed only when they're visible from your location, with local times for every phase • Full moons and supermoons, with moonrise time and direction • Close pairings of the Moon and bright planets over the coming weeks For each one Skycharted works out the best viewing window, which compass direction to face, how high the radiant climbs, a realistic meteors-per-hour figure, and whether the Moon is up to spoil it. Tap "Find it in the sky" and the camera view points you straight at the radiant, the Moon or the planet. TRACE THE REAL SKY Each evening Skycharted picks a constellation that's well placed above you. Trace it star by star along the asterism lines astronomers use and it's logged in your field journal. Work toward all 88 IAU constellations. Tap "I saw it" on a sky event and that goes in the journal too. FREE, WITH NO ACCOUNT Tonight's events and their full plan, the event calendar, the constellation collection, the camera sky-pointer and a daily dusk note about what's up are free for everyone, with no ads. SKYCHARTED PRO • Plans for any night ahead, so you can pick the best night for a trip to dark skies • Peak alerts an hour before each best window • A week and month view of when each missing constellation is next well placed • 110 Messier galaxies, nebulae and star clusters to find in the real sky Pro is $19.99 a year or $2.99 a month, each starting with a free week, or $99.99 once for lifetime access. Each subscription keeps renewing until you cancel it from the Subscriptions page of the Settings app, no later than 24 hours before it would renew. All the astronomy runs on your phone using astronomy-engine and the Hipparcos star catalog. Your location is used for the calculations and stays on the device.
