Firewood Stock answers the only question that matters in October: is there enough dry wood to get through? ONLY SEASONED WOOD COUNTS Tell it your stove output, how long you burn each day and how many weeks the season runs. The app works out what the winter demands and compares it to what you actually have — counting only the wood that has had time to dry. Green wood stacked last month is in the ledger but not in the total, because burning it wet gives you less heat and more tar. THE SEASONING CLOCK STARTS WHEN YOU STACK IT Oak needs two years and there is no shortcut. Ash a year. Pine nine months. Log the month it went on the pile and the app tracks each stack separately, telling you which are ready and which have months to go. HEAT IS NOT EQUAL Oak gives you 29 million BTU a cord. Poplar gives 14. That is not a small difference — it is the same shed holding twice the winter. Every species has its own figure and the app uses it. BURN IT DOWN AS YOU GO Tap off a tenth, a quarter or a half cord as you use it. The verdict updates, so by January you know whether you are comfortable or whether you should be phoning someone. WORKS OFFLINE No account, no signal. Heat values are published averages for seasoned wood and vary with density, moisture and storage. Seasoning times assume split wood, stacked off the ground, covered on top and open at the sides.
