About
See how sound changes around you, and keep the context behind each reading. Decibel Pro uses the iPhone microphone to estimate A-weighted sound levels in dBA for everyday use at home, at work, on a commute or at a concert. FOLLOW CHANGING SOUND - View the current level, energy-average level (LAeq), minimum, maximum and recent trend. - Choose a scene such as Home, Work, Commute or Concert to organize your sessions. - Turn high-level alerts and haptic feedback on or off. KEEP A USEFUL RECORD - Completed measurements automatically save statistics and a local field recording. - Review session duration, trends, recordings and estimated exposure dose in History. - Exposure estimates cover only the time you measured. MEASURE IN THE BACKGROUND - Pause and resume an active session. - Enable background measurement in Settings to continue when switching apps or locking your iPhone. Calls and other system audio interruptions may pause measurement. ADD THE SOUND LEVEL TO THE SCENE - Take photos and videos with a visible sound-level watermark. - Save captured media to Photos and share it from the media viewer. OPTIONAL REFERENCE OFFSET With a trusted, calibrated external sound level meter, you can set a reference offset in Advanced Calibration. This does not make the iPhone a certified sound level meter. LOCAL BY DEFAULT Microphone access is required. Measurements save audio on this device by default. The app does not automatically upload your measurement history or recordings. Deleting a saved measurement also deletes its associated recording. Photos and videos are created when you choose to capture them. No account is required, and measurement and history work offline. UNDERSTAND THE LIMITS All readings are consumer-grade estimates affected by the iPhone model, microphone, case, placement and environment. Use them for everyday reference, not occupational safety certification, environmental enforcement, engineering acceptance, medical diagnosis or legal evidence.
