About

Your camera already has a screen. This is the one you can put where you need it. Camera Red connects to a Sony camera over its own Wi-Fi and gives you the viewfinder on your phone: live view, shutter, aperture, ISO, white balance and focus, with the values on dials you can drag rather than tap one at a time. Take the shot from anywhere A live picture from the camera, the shutter under your thumb, and every exposure setting a drag away. Focus first and shoot second, exactly as you would on the body. Timelapses the camera can't shoot on its own Set an interval and a length; the app states the shooting time and the length of the finished video before it starts. Pull the frames through under your finger while it runs to see the light change. When it's done the video assembles itself, and the frames are kept so you can rebuild it at another rate or, once the originals are on your phone, at a larger size. The memory card, from where you're standing Browse the card by day or by folder, choose what you want and pull it across. Where the camera offers a shot at several sizes, you choose which one to spend the wait on. RAW, straight off the camera Set the camera to send files to the app and they arrive as they are shot — RAW and JPEG both. Nothing is uploaded anywhere: your phone is the destination. Look at what you shot A library with a proper viewer: pinch to zoom, a histogram with the numbers beside it, the exposure the camera used, and picking and rejecting for when you want to cut a session down. Videos play. Everything is yours to share or save wherever you like. Free for a week, then one payment Every camera feature is open for seven days. After that a single purchase keeps them — no subscription, nothing to cancel. Photographs already on your phone stay open whether you buy or not, and a built-in demo camera lets you see the whole app working before any of this matters. What you need A Sony camera that supports Sony's Camera Remote API — the bodies with "Ctrl w/ Smartphone" in their network menu, which covers most models from around 2014 to 2019, including the α7 III, α7R III, α9, α6000/6300/6400 and RX100 IV and later. Card browsing uses "Send to Smartphone"; file transfer uses the camera's own FTP function and works with cameras from other makers too. Camera Red is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Sony.
