Allegra teaches Sursilvan, the most widely spoken of the five written standards of Romansh — Switzerland's fourth national language, spoken by around 40,000 people in a single canton. Not Rumantsch Grischun. Not a blend of the valleys. One written standard, taught properly. EVERY WORD IS CHECKED The course teaches 1,482 words, and every one is a headword in the Pledari Grond, the official dictionary of the Lia Rumantscha. A learner cannot tell a correct word from a plausible one, so Allegra does not print Romansh it cannot check.
