ilmek - Learn Crochet & Knit

About

Learn to knit and crochet from your very first stitch — then turn your own photos into patterns you can actually follow. ilmek is the friendly, guided way to go from "I've never held a hook or needle" to finished projects: dishcloths, amigurumi, scarves, and anything your imagination (or your photo library) can dream up. WHY ilmek Most knitting and crochet apps assume you already know how. ilmek starts at zero, with real macro-photo lessons — not cartoons, not AI-generated hands — and a warm, step-by-step course that builds real skill. LEARN FROM ZERO, AT YOUR OWN PACE • Bite-sized lessons with practice checks, XP, and streaks — like your favorite language app, but for yarn. • Master the essentials: slip knot, cast on, knit stitch, purl, single crochet, chain, magic ring, increases, decreases, reading patterns and abbreviations, color changes, binding off. • Every lesson supports left-handed AND right-handed crafters. • Real photos of real hands, every step of the way. TURN YOUR PHOTO INTO A PATTERN • Upload any image and watch it become a row-by-row, tap-to-advance pattern — perfect for colorwork, graphghans, and one-of-a-kind designs. • The current row is always highlighted, so you never lose your place. • Your very first conversion is on us. A ROW COUNTER THAT NEVER LETS YOU DOWN • Fast, reliable, fully offline — no account, no signal needed. • Track multiple projects at once, right down to the stitch. STUCK? JUST ASK • ilmek Assistant explains any step in plain language, right when you need it — a patient, knowledgeable companion, not a search engine. GUIDED PROJECTS TO BUILD REAL CONFIDENCE • Start from ready-made designs like our Frog-Hood Duck Keychain, or dive into your own. • Step-by-step photo guidance, technique reminders built right in, and help exactly where you need it. MISTAKES HAPPEN — WE'LL HELP YOU FIX THEM • Dedicated lessons for dropped stitches, twisted stitches, and frogging, so a mistake never becomes a reason to quit. ALSO INCLUDED • Project notes and a photo journal for everything you make. • Gauge and yarn calculators. • A growing pattern library. WHO IT'S FOR • Total beginners ready to learn to knit or crochet from scratch. • Returning crafters brushing up on a technique or two. • Anyone who's ever wanted to turn a favorite photo into something handmade.
