About

Singing Stairs is a musical night sky for children five to eight. A staircase of letters climbs from low C to high C, and every letter sings its true note on a real piano. Pitch is height, so the room is built that way. Fifteen games, on four shelves: PLAY — The playground, where a slide, a swing, a ladder and five more pieces of equipment each carry one musical idea. Paint the sky, where she draws on the night sky with a finger and hears her drawing sung: higher on the screen is a higher note. Song time, where she plays real songs by tapping the glowing letter, words lit syllable by syllable. Make a tune, where she writes her own song on a grid of notes and hears it played back, forwards or backwards. SING — Sing together, where her voice becomes a star riding the staircase in real time. Sing it back, where she hears a note and sings it. LISTEN — The mystery singer, Higher or lower, Up or down, Happy or sad, How many singers, Echo clouds, The band and Drum talk: pitch, melody shapes, major and minor chords, harmony, memory, the sound of four instruments, and rhythm, most of them growing gently harder as she gets it. AT BEDTIME — Goodnight, stairs: a soft lullaby while the letters fall asleep one by one. There is no score, no timer and no wrong answer. A miss just plays what she tapped, which is exactly the comparison that trains an ear. Every note is a real recording: the Salamander Grand Piano, and violin, flute and harp from the VSCO-2 orchestra. Everything works offline. No accounts, no advertising, no purchases, no links out of the app, and no data collected. The two singing games listen while they are open and analyze the sound on the phone; nothing is recorded or sent anywhere. Settings live behind a grown-ups gate.

What's new · 1.0.1

New game: Paint the sky. Draw on the night sky with a finger and it sings what you draw. Higher on the screen is a higher note, and every drawing sounds good. Easier for younger players: - Sharps and flats now start off, so the staircase begins with eight big letters. Turn them on from the home screen or the grown-ups corner. - Games is now a short press-and-hold, so a stray tap doesn't end a game. - In Song time, the next letter glows in its own colour and hops. - The ladder and the monkey bars climb to any rung you tap, singing each one on the way. The singing games hear quieter voices, keep listening through the phone's own microphone when headphones are connected, and no longer mistake the app's own note for your singing. Also fixed: the seesaw's higher note now rides higher, the swing waits to be pushed, the win fanfare is in tune, How many singers uses chords where every voice can be heard, and Song time stops singing when you leave the game.
