Weather as one continuous line, not a grid of tiles: what was, what is, what comes – in one picture you scroll through. And it marks the hours worth going out in. THREE VIEWS, ONE SWIPE Swipe up or down and the same run of weather changes language. ANEMO – THE WIND The style the app is named after, and the one it opens with. The white curve is the wind, the pale fringe above it the gusts – the gap between them is what decides a good session from a fight. The ground wears the knot colours every rider reads without thinking: green near 10, yellow 15, orange 20, red 25, violet past 30. The sky behind it is that hour's light, not decoration: an overcast noon turns grey rather than a dimmed blue. METEO – EVERYTHING The full instrument: wind and gusts on the Beaufort grid, pressure, clouds, humidity, temperature discs and rain bars – every value printed on its own curve. UV rises with the sun, its peak printed bold, and a golden wash is sunshine. On a coast the bottom band fills itself with the tide: high and low water with time and height, plus wave height, period and water temperature. ASTRO – THE NIGHT Stars stand only in hours whose night is genuinely clear; plain black means cloud. The moon is a real photograph, shaded to the phase it will actually wear, with its rise, set and arc – and its percentage tells you how much it washes the sky out. Astronomical darkness stands there to the minute, computed from the sun's altitude rather than the clock. And red light, for eyes that mean to keep their dark adaptation. THE GREEN WINDOW Say what you have in mind and the app finds the hours for it: being outside, wind and water sports, sunbathing, cycling, stargazing. Each profile brings its own starting numbers, and every one of them is yours to change afterwards – twelve knots is a flat calm to one person and too much for the next. The answer is a green stretch along the chart, in every style. WHAT ASTRO SAYS, AND WHAT IT DOESN'T Under each date stands only what would change a plan: a meteor shower's peak night, the moon's turning, an aurora chance, the best night still ahead. Plus the air itself – crystal-clear, hazy, milky or Saharan dust, read from the European aerosol model – and the jet stream overhead: the wind at 250 hPa that tears a telescope image apart. There is no seeing figure. Nobody can forecast one honestly, so we don't claim it. CLEAR — A NEW FOURTH VIEW A dark, reduced look at the same run of weather. The ground under the temperature line is that hour's light. An amber band along the horizon marks the sun's real hours — flat under a closed deck, high on a clear afternoon. And where the felt temperature pulls away from the measured one, a coloured glow hangs beneath the curve: blue going to ice where wind makes it colder, orange going to red where humidity makes it warmer. THREE KINDS OF RAIN INSTEAD OF ONE A shower, steady rain and a downpour used to share one symbol. They no longer do — and the shower carries sun or moon, because by definition it has gaps. The symbol row can space itself evenly, carry a span line, or size itself by how long the weather lasts. EXPLAIN THIS CHART, REBUILT Every style now opens its walkthrough with what it is for, what it does better than the other three, and which settings belong to it. The walkthrough runs top to bottom instead of jumping, and it only explains what is actually switched on. iPAD AND MAC The foot of the chart breathes: hour figures, sun times and the location button no longer sit on top of each other. ALSO Astro shows hour figures at its foot. The time axis can be switched off — the day boundaries stay. And the chart explanation appears exactly once, then leaves you alone.
