About
Plaintext Skelz is the classic New York City street game — rebuilt for iPad with real physics, hand-chalked visuals, and pass-and-play for 2 to 6 players. Draw your board. Load your cap. Flick your way from box 1 to box 13. Miss the box and your turn is over. Land 13 and you're crowned King or Hunter. HOW IT PLAYS Touch anywhere on the pavement and drag back to aim. The power gauge breathes in and out. Release when you like the pull. Pull hard and the shot wanders like a real flick would. It's simple, tactile, and takes fifteen seconds to learn and an afternoon to master. TWO WAYS TO WIN SKELZ - Traditional The old-school race. First cap to legally land box 13 wins the block. KNOCK OUT - Elimination Clear box 13 and you turn Killer. Now you hunt the other caps — three tags per rival to knock them out. Last cap standing owns the street. PICK YOUR CAP Before every game, choose your character: - LIGHTWEIGHT ("The Flick"): Empty cap. Flies far. Gets smacked around. - WELTERWEIGHT ("The Classic"): Wax-filled. The balanced standard. - HEAVYWEIGHT ("The Quarter"): Quarter-loaded. Short slides. Barely flinches when hit. FEATURES - 2 to 6 local players on a single iPad - Real bottle-cap physics with weight, momentum, and street friction - Breathing power meter with skill-based release timing - Every visual drawn in code — from chalk lines to cap wax - No ads, no tracking, no internet connection required - Family-friendly gameplay designed for all ages - Universal iPad support in landscape orientation WHY WE MADE IT Skelz (also known as Skully, Loadies, Skellies, or Tops) is a stoop-game classic that generations of NYC kids grew up playing with chalk, bottle caps, and melted crayon wax in the 90's. My dad and I used to play this when I was younger and he requested I make this app before he passed away. This app is a love letter to the block and to him— a way to keep the love alive on rainy days, long trips, and every kitchen table. Chalk it up.
