A single forgotten item can sink a shoot. ShotCheckPro is an app for getting the gear you leave behind down to zero. ABOUT THE DEVELOPER We are arcion inc., a production company working in photography and video, and we built this for ourselves. A general task list can stand in for the checking. What we could not find was one that lets you rebuild the kit for each job out of a single gear list, or one that handles the checks particular to camera gear: how many batteries there are and whether they are charged, whether a card has been formatted. So we built ShotCheckPro as a checklist made only for camera gear. On a distant location in particular, one forgotten item can be fatal. You have probably heard about a painful mistake made by someone in the same line of work. Our own circumstances mean nothing to the client. Whatever the situation, let us be ready to walk onto set fully prepared. WHAT IT DOES ■ Build a setup for each shoot Keep a single gear list, and choose from it to build a setup for each shoot. It is designed to cover any kind of work, on location or in the studio, whatever the genre. Neither you nor your crew has to stop and think "what do we need this time" — the gear you need comes together straight away. ■ The go-ahead appears only when nothing is left Tap each line as the gear goes into the case, and the counter runs down. Only when it reaches zero does the app say you are clear to leave, and it records the time. It is also useful for looking back at earlier setups. ■ Packed and usable are treated as different things A battery that is not charged is no better than a battery left at home. Neither is a card with last week's shoot still on it. Items like these can be marked as needing a charge or a format. ■ Start the next one by duplicating the last For a similar job, duplicating the previous setup and changing only what is different is the quickest way. There is no reworking a text list every time. ■ Reorder everything to match how you load The gear list, the list of setups and the gear inside a setup can all be dragged into a new order. Put them in the order you actually load the van, and you can work straight down the list. ■ Add in bulk, drop with a swipe Select a whole category at once to add gear to a setup. Anything that job does not need can be swiped away from the setup. It stays in your gear list. ■ Built for dark places A dark interface, targets large enough to hit one-handed, and haptics that tell you a line went in without looking. Easy on the eyes in the back of a van or in a car park at night. ■ No connection required Everything runs on the device. It works the same in airplane mode and in places with no signal at all. PRIVACY Nothing is collected. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising. The gear and setups you enter stay on your device. PRICING The app is free to download, and you can register as much gear as you like at no cost. One setup is free.
