Everybody should have a nana. This one lives on your phone. Nana Jenny is a little pixel-art grandmother who sits on screen and tells you the things a nan tells you. Tap her and she says something else. She'll also keep your reminders and remember every birthday you're bad at remembering. LIFE TIPS Over 140 of them, dealt out shuffled so you don't get the same one twice in a row. Some are practical: "Put your keys in the same place every time. That's not discipline, it's mercy." "If you can fix it in two minutes, fix it now." "Don't buy cheap tools twice." Some are less about the washing up: "You don't have to earn a rest. You only have to take one." "You're not behind. You're just not where somebody else is." "Nobody's coming to tell you you've done well, so I will. You've done well." REMINDERS Give her a thing and the days you want chasing about it, and she'll chase you. It arrives in her own words rather than a beep — "You said you would, and I wrote it down." "I'm not cross, I'm just reminding." BIRTHDAYS Write down a name and a date and she'll never let it past you again. Choose a week's notice, a day's notice, or a nudge on the morning itself. She'll tell you to ring them, not text. The tricky dates are handled properly: a week before the 1st of January is Christmas Day, and leap-day birthdays are observed on the 28th rather than skipping three years out of four. WHAT SHE'S LIKE She's drawn a pixel at a time, her mouth flaps while she talks, and there's a starfield behind her. No accounts, no feed, no streaks to keep up, nothing trying to hold onto you. She's just there when you open her. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Your reminders and birthdays stay on your device and sync between your own iPhone and iPad through your iCloud account. There is no server of ours in the middle, no sign-up, no tracking, and nothing is collected about you. Notifications are scheduled by iOS on your device — Nana doesn't need the internet to nag you.
