HOW IT WORKS 1. Point the camera at your catch and tap the shutter. 2. Fishwise returns the 2-3 most likely species, each with a confidence score and the visual features that support it - jaw position, dorsal fin shape, lateral banding, colouring. 3. Pick your lake and enter the length. In Wisconsin, Fishwise checks that length against the published minimum, the protected slot, the open season and the daily bag, then tells you KEEP or RELEASE with the reasons spelled out. 4. Save it to your Cooler with your own name for it. The exact rule it was judged by is stored alongside it, so the record still makes sense next season when the limits have changed. WHAT IT WILL NOT DO It will not give you one confident answer when the photo does not support one. It will not say KEEP when anything it needs is missing - no length, no lake, an unparsed rule, a season that only opens on open water. In every one of those cases it says CHECK and tells you what it is missing. A wrong KEEP costs you a fine, so the app would rather admit it does not know.
