Ask Dave is your own personal AI chat assistant, built to look and feel exactly the way you want it to. To open the instructions how to use this app, hold down your finger on the Ask Dave pill at the top of the screen for longer than one second. Unlike most chat apps, Ask Dave comes deliberately bare bones. There's no fixed personality baked in, no logo you're stuck with, and no name forced on you. You choose all of it. Give it your own name, upload your own logo, write your own greeting, and even shape how it talks by writing its instructions yourself. The result is a chat assistant that feels like yours, not a template with your name pasted on top. Ask Dave uses Claude, Anthropic's AI, to power every conversation. You bring your own Anthropic API key, so you're always in control of your own usage and your own costs, with nothing routed through anyone else's server in between. Some of what you can customise: Your own name and greeting on the very first screen Your own logo, right down to the icon shown when you open the app The wording shown in the message box before you start typing The title shown at the top of your chat How Dave talks, by writing his instructions yourself Which version of the AI answers you, balancing speed, quality, and cost Ask Dave also works alongside a companion app on Apple Watch, so a quiet peek at your wrist can show you what's been asked, what's been answered, or both, exactly as you choose. Ask Dave includes some special features designed for professional magicians and mentalists too, alongside its everyday use as a genuine AI assistant.
