About

There was a time when my days were consumed by work and alcohol. I would wake up with a heavy head and a bleak mood after drinking too much. While wondering how to sober up, I would head back to work that seemed to have no end. The project was a death march. Every day, I repeated the same hell without knowing when it would end. After work, I drank while stopping at convenience stores on my way home. I had no time to play the games I once loved, and no room left to think about what I wanted. My body and mind felt like mud. Back then, there was a vending machine on the platform of my nearest station that sold canned shijimi clam miso soup. When I drank it, I felt as though a little nourishment reached my clouded mind and restored a small amount of strength to keep living. Just to drink that can of soup, I barely managed the 14-minute walk to the station. It did not give me the power to change my life. But I still had enough strength to go and drink that shijimi miso soup. Looking back now, I think that was one small grain too. Hitotsubu is an app for placing the small events and feelings of each day into a bottle, one grain at a time. Something tasted good. Something looked beautiful. I laughed. I felt relieved. I finished something. Someone helped me. I somehow made it through today. It does not have to be a major event. You do not need an impressive goal or a long piece of writing. Just tap once in that moment. The grains you save collect in a bottle. Bottles go into wooden crates. Crates go into containers. The time you have accumulated eventually becomes a vast warehouse. When you look back at that warehouse, you may realize: I thought I had done nothing, but I lived through all of these days. It is a place for keeping those memories. In Hitotsubu, grains cannot be edited or deleted. Even an accidental tap remains as one grain from that day. This is not an app for creating a perfect record. It is an app for preserving the time you actually lived, exactly as it happened. You do not have to change your life. You do not have to become positive. Just remember: Something tasted a little better. I smiled a little. Something helped me. I made it through today. Do not let those moments disappear. One grain may not change anything. But someday, that grain may remind you that something was still alive within you.
