Milk Tank Log helps dairy and creamery staff turn scattered clipboard temperature checks into an organized bulk tank cooling and wash record. It is a recordkeeping tool, not a compliance authority: it does not determine PMO (Grade A Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) applicability or state dairy regulation compliance. Start with a Bulk Tank profile: name or number, capacity in gallons, location, and your own default Cooling Target Hours and Target Temp in degrees Fahrenheit, adjustable per tank at any time. Open a Milking Batch to track a fill: start and end time, estimated volume, recorder, and notes. Log Temperature Readings by hand at any point — right after milking, on periodic rounds, or before and after CIP — each tied to elapsed time since the batch started. Only one open batch per tank is allowed at a time, so parallel milking lines are not modeled. Temperature Log compares each reading against your snapshot of Target Hours and Target Temp using a truth table, not a simple over-threshold flag: a high reading before Target Hours has elapsed is expected cooling-in-progress and is never highlighted, while only a reading at or after Target Hours with temperature still above Target Temp is flagged for review. Batch defaults are captured at open time, so a later settings change never rewrites a past batch. CIP Wash records are independent of any batch: start and end time, chemical used, rinse confirmation, and operator, logged whether or not the prior batch has closed out. Closing a batch (logged) is deliberate, after the final reading; once logged, new readings cannot be added, and any correction is entered as a dated Correction referencing the original reading, never a silent overwrite. Export a Bulk Tank Cooling & Wash Log PDF for any date range: tank details, every batch with times, elapsed time, recorded temperatures, the Target Hours/Temp snapshot used, comparison flags, and CIP history, with a standing notice that temperatures are manually entered and the app makes no PMO determination.
