Built for Iarnród Éireann route engineers, technical officers, and P-Way designers who need fast, reliable curve and cant calculations without leaving the site. • Equilibrium cant (Ce) — V² × 13.0389 / R (kph) or V² × 33.77 / R (mph) • Cant deficiency (Cd) — passenger comfort vs applied cant • Combined cant + deficiency (E+D) — checked against the line’s regulatory limit • Applied cant (Ca) — 2/3 × Ce rounded to the nearest 5 mm • Reverse-mode and compound curves both supported (F+R and F-F only) • 10 m intervals by default, per-segment override where geometry demands it • Hollow / hump profile auto-detection on vertical curves • Worked example regression (V = 40 mph, R = 394.844 / 421.4 / 396.928 / 645 m) Designed to mirror the approved 1.435m gauge SKU; same workflow, same screen layout, same input rules — just the 1.6m constants. Note: there is no published Iarnród Éireann horizontal-alignment design standard. The formulas in this app are the canonical reference for the 1.6m SKU.
