About
A straight, motionless tone is a kind of death. Add vibrato and you breathe life into the note. Vibrato Studio teaches vibrato as something you can actually study - not something you wait to arrive with maturity. Hear a tunable model wave at a steady 5 waves per beat, then match it: shape, depth, and speed. THE EXERCISE A base note alternates with a chromatic scale - base, target, base, target - climbing to the top of your range, then descending below. Taught to Prof. Thomas Hornig by Alain Bouhey at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, and practiced daily ever since. FOR EVERY INSTRUMENT 58 instruments across 13 families - saxophones, flutes, clarinets, double reeds, brass, strings, guitar, voice, and more - each with correct written-pitch transposition. WHAT'S INSIDE - A tunable model wave: tempo (20-120 BPM), depth, waves-per-beat - Style presets from gentle modern to lush and wide - The full practice method, written by a working orchestral player - A practice log with reps and time, exportable as CSV for your teacher - Recommended gear from a professional saxophonist - Works completely offline. Free. No account, no ads, no subscription. Vibrato Studio is one exercise from The Whole Horn - a complete practice system by Thomas Hornig, Professor at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music and Principal Saxophonist of the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra.
