BackyardPace is the Apple Watch app built for one race format: the Backyard Ultra. Every loop starts on the hour. Your job is to finish each loop before the bell, then do it again. The last runner standing wins. Managing your recovery window down to the second is what separates a good race from a great one. BackyardPace handles all of it from your wrist. WHAT IT DOES Counts down to the start of every loop automatically. Tracks your loop time the moment you set off. Calculates your exact recovery window the second you finish a loop. Shows the numbers that matter while you run: loop time, time remaining, and heart rate. Records every loop, split, GPS route and heart rate to Apple Health. BUILT FOR THE FORMAT Standard running apps are built for a race with a finish line. Backyard Ultras do not work that way. You run the same loop over and over, for as long as you can keep going. BackyardPace understands that structure and tracks it properly, loop by loop, hour by hour. RACE FROM THE WATCH Set your race start time before the gun. Once the race begins, your watch is your race computer. Your loop time, recovery countdown, heart rate and pace are all there at a glance, so your phone can stay charging in the tent. RECOVERY THAT KEEPS YOU HONEST The recovery screen counts down to the next loop start and changes colour as time runs short, so you always know exactly how long you have before you need to move. BUILT BY A BACKYARD ULTRA RUNNER BackyardPace was built by Tim Dove, a Backyard Ultra finisher, because no app existed for this race format. Every feature was designed around real race experience. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO BackyardPace does not tell you how to pace yourself. That is your job. It does not replace race officials or official timing. It does not require a mobile signal or internet connection during a race.
