And a new Aggressive Owl mode may be appreciated by fans of, uh, some other language learning apps. Turn these all on or off via the new Toys & Amusements section. I hope it gives you an extra smile and more reason to keep on studying! Keep a 5-day streak going and you can play any of the seven mini games whenever you like from Toys & Amusements. Also new: when the vocab drill asks from English, each answer choice has its own speaker, so you can hear every Portuguese option before you pick. VoiceOver now reads those choices in Portuguese too.

Master European Portuguese with a pocket-sized reference and drill companion built for serious learners. Whether you're building fluency for life in Portugal or just love the language, European Portuguese Reference keeps the rules at your fingertips and the drills sharp. We built this app for ourselves because everything else out there seems to teach Brazillian Portuguese; but for those of us living in Portugal, that's not ideal! Look up conjugation tables for any verb — present, preterite, imperfect, future, conditional, subjunctive, and imperative, plus the personal infinitive — generated on the fly from a complete rule engine that handles all three verb classes, stem changes, and irregular verbs. Browse gender and agreement rules, clitic pronoun placement, preposition contractions, and the constructs that trip up English speakers, all in one place. Contribute to curated vocabulary sections, review and learn with flash cards, learn pronunciation with built-in text-to-speech, and use a built-in dictionary to discover new words you want to learn. Test yourself with multiple-choice grammar drills targeted to specific verb classes, agreement, and more. A dedicated vocabulary drill randomly asks you to translate Portuguese → English or English → Portuguese. The app tracks which questions you get wrong and prioritises them in future sessions. Your custom vocabulary words, flashcard ratings, and drill history sync automatically across all your Apple devices via iCloud.
