SmartyPass turns your child's screen time into reading practice. Before games and videos open, your child reads — and every minute of app time is earned, not just given. Here's how it works: SmartyPass locks the apps you choose. To unlock them, your child listens to a sight word and taps the matching word from four choices. String together a streak of correct answers and their apps open for the time you set. When that time is up, iOS locks everything again — automatically. Setup takes about two minutes: 1. Create a parent PIN. Everything behind the gate stays yours. You also get a recovery code in case you forget it. 2. Choose what to block. Pick individual apps, whole categories, or block everything, using Apple's private app picker. 3. Set the challenge. Choose grade-level word lists, a difficulty, how many words in a row unlock apps (5 to 20), and how long apps stay open (15 minutes to 2 hours). Then turn on the shield and you're done.
