About
Porto Luce, 1953. Don Vito Marchetti is three days in the ground and the chair at the back of Carbone's is yours. Three families want it back. La Famiglia is a turn-based mafia management game, painted like a 1950s noir film. A week is a turn: give every member of your crew one job, resolve the week, read the recap. No timers, no energy, no waiting: the city only moves when you do. A PAINTED NOIR WORLD Every face, street and back room is an oil painting. Over a hundred characters, each painted with their own expressions: the capo smiles when he is paid and goes cold when he is passed over, and you see it before he says a word. Ninety-four events, each with its own illustration. Four districts, thirty businesses and every story scene in smoke, tungsten light and oxblood. PLAN THE WEEK Collect the envelopes, protect a corner, lean on a shopkeeper, run a shipment through the docks, wash dirty cash through your fronts, pay the precinct to look away. Each job is skill against difficulty, and the odds are on the card before you commit. Heat rises with what the police can see: over 60 the arrests start, over 80 the raids, at 100 the grand jury. THE CREW Soldiers, capos, a bookkeeper, a driver, a fixer: each with five skills, two traits and a loyalty that moves with how you treat them. A greedy bookkeeper skims. A hot-headed soldier draws heat. A capo you never promote wants a district, and may take yours. THE WARS Three families hold Porto Luce and one of them wants your street. Bleed their income, turn or remove their capos, find the boss, cut him off from his allies and end it at a sit-down or in the street. When a family falls, another comes in from out of town, stronger than the last. THE DYNASTY Fifty-two weeks make a year, and the Don ages. Marry, raise children, decide who learns the books and who learns the street. When the Don dies, the chair passes to an heir, or to a capo who will not thank you for it. The family tree and the chronicle remember every Don and every name in the ground. FIVE MINIGAMES When the crew's odds are not good enough, the Don does the job himself: drive the collection rounds, hold your nerve at the sit-down, slip the envelope to the right official, wash the cash, draw the smuggling route past the patrols. Play well and it pays, but a Don seen on the street draws heat. EIGHT ENDINGS Il Padrino, the Commission, a clean retirement, the dynasty. Or indicted, betrayed, gunned down, or the line simply ending. Take the ending, or keep ruling a city that never stops.
