The Sundarkand is the fifth and central chapter of the Hindu epic Ramayana. It is the only section where the protagonist is not Lord Rama, but Lord Hanuman. It chronicles Hanuman's colossal leap to Lanka, his discovery of Sita, the burning of Lanka, and his return to Rama with hope for her rescue. Key Highlights The Journey: Hanuman leaps across the ocean to the demon-king Ravana’s island fortress of Lanka to search for the abducted Sita. The Meeting: He locates Sita in the Ashoka grove and offers her Rama's ring as a token of faith, reassuring her that help is on the way. Lanka Dahan: After being captured and having his tail set on fire by Ravana's demons, Hanuman breaks free and burns down the golden city of Lanka. Return: He returns to Rama with the joyful news that Sita is alive and well, paving the way for the construction of the bridge to Lanka.
