BoulderLift: Rock Weight

About

BoulderLift estimates how much a boulder weighs and whether your machine's rated capacity covers it. Scan the rock with LiDAR on an iPhone Pro, or enter its size on any iPhone, and read the weight as a range in US tons or tonnes. HOW IT WORKS • Scan: walk slowly around the rock, tap the ground at its base and watch the volume update. Scanning needs an iPhone Pro with LiDAR. • No LiDAR? Enter the length, width and height, pick a shape (rounded, blocky or jagged) and continue. This works on any iPhone. • Choose the stone from 11 presets. The default, Unknown / Average Rock, is deliberately heavy so that a rock is not under-weighed. • The weight comes as an estimate with a low and a high end. The range is ±25% by default; you can set it from ±15% to ±35%. CHECK THE LIFT • Save your machine with its rated capacity: skid-steer loader, compact track loader, excavator, telehandler, wheel loader or other. • The verdict compares the high end of the weight range with that rated capacity: Safe to lift (green), Marginal (amber) or Do not lift (red). • Green means the high end is within a working margin of the rating: 80% by default, adjustable from 60% to 95%. • Enter the rating from the manufacturer's spec sheet or load chart. For loaders you can enter the tipping load instead, and BoulderLift works out the rated capacity with the ISO 14397-1 factors. The result screen shows the standard behind each machine type's rating: ISO 14397-1 for loaders, ISO 10567 for excavators, ISO 10896 for telehandlers. UNITS • US tons, pounds and feet, or tonnes, kilograms and metres. A new install starts in the units of your region; change them any time in Settings. It adds unlimited machines, a History of the rocks you save and a one-page lift card as a PDF you can share. Unlock and Restore purchases are in Settings. PRIVACY • No account and no ads. • Scans, machines and saved rocks stay on your device. The camera is used only for scanning. Purchases go through the App Store. • Scanning, weighing and the lift check work without an internet connection. AN ESTIMATE, NOT A SCALE Weights are estimates from a scan or a typed size and an assumed stone density; real rocks vary and may be partly buried or hollow. The verdict uses a capacity you enter and does not account for ground, slope, rigging weight, dynamic loads or machine wear. BoulderLift is a planning aid, not a certified safety device: always check your machine's manufacturer load chart and follow your site's safety rules.
