Slate: Film Your Story

About

Slate turns a spark of an idea into a finished short film — even if you've never made one before. Think of it as training wheels for filmmaking: paint-by-number for shots. Here's how it works, in four simple stages: 1. BRAINSTORM Start with a rough idea and answer a few guided questions. Slate helps you shape it into a clear concept for your short. 2. STORYBOARD Your concept becomes a numbered shot list — a simple, editable plan for exactly what to film. Reorder shots, tweak the descriptions, and make it yours. 3. FILM The camera walks you through your storyboard one shot at a time. Each shot appears as an on-screen guide, with an optional teleprompter, framing guides, a duration ring, and a progress strip so you always know what to capture next. No guesswork — just point, follow the guide, and record. 4. ASSEMBLE Slate stitches your clips together in storyboard order, trims them, and gives you a finished short you can save and share. PRIVATE BY DESIGN All of your video stays on your device. Only the text of your concept and storyboard is ever sent to create your shot list — your footage never leaves your phone. Whether you're capturing a travel diary, a product demo, a music moment, a family memory, or a first attempt at storytelling, Slate gives you the structure to actually finish. Stop staring at a blank screen and start rolling. Built for iPhone. Bring an idea — Slate handles the rest.
