The paywall promised three things this app did not do. Rather than drop the promises, they are built: Search. You can now search back through your notes, and through the areas you scored on a given day, right at the top of History. Longer trends. The trend chart covered a fortnight no matter what. Pro now shows six months of daily averages; free keeps the two weeks. Nothing that was free has become paid, and the reading and the daily check in stay free. Settings now links the privacy policy and terms.

About

Ballast gives you one short reading each morning, then asks you to score how the day actually went in four areas: Focus, Love, Money and Energy. Do that for a few weeks and something useful shows up. Not a mood graph, but a plain answer to a question most people avoid: which part of my life am I quietly starving? HOW IT WORKS Read. One sharp, unsentimental piece of writing each day, on one of your four areas. No filler and no affirmation voice. You can switch between all four of the day's readings whenever you want. Score. Rate each area from 1 to 5 in a few seconds, and add a short note if the day is worth remembering. Look. The Balance screen shows your 30 day average for each area, how long each one has gone untouched, and a running average across the last two weeks. When an area goes cold, Ballast says so plainly instead of letting it slide. WHAT IS INSIDE 348 hand written readings, 87 for each of the four areas A daily check in that takes under ten seconds 30 day averages and a 14 day trend chart Neglect detection that names the area you have been avoiding One morning reminder, at a time you choose WHAT PRO ADDS The reading, the daily check in, the 30 day averages and the neglect callout are free, and stay free. One optional payment, once, opens the record: The full history of every score and note you have logged, instead of the last two weeks Search back through your notes, and through the areas you scored on a given day Six months of daily averages on the trend chart instead of a fortnight No subscription, nothing renews, and there are no ads. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT There is no account and no sign up. Everything you write stays on your device. Ballast has no servers, no analytics and no tracking, so there is nothing for anyone to collect or leak. Reminders are scheduled locally and their contents never leave your phone. Works completely offline.
