Stroop Challenge is a precision cognitive training tool based on the Stroop Effect — one of the most replicated findings in experimental psychology — measuring interference between word reading and color recognition. THE SCIENCE: The Stroop Effect demonstrates that automatic processing (word reading) can interfere with controlled processing (color identification). Regular exposure to Stroop-type stimuli has been associated with improved selective attention, cognitive flexibility, and processing speed. TWO VALIDATED MODES: • Classic (Color-Naming) — Identify the ink color of the presented word. Suppresses automatic reading response. • Word Match (Word-Reading) — Identify the color named by the word. Tests semantic processing independence. METRICS TRACKED: • Score per round (accuracy × speed composite) • Best accuracy rate (percentage of correct responses) • Fastest average reaction time (milliseconds per response) • Session totals: rounds played, correct and incorrect responses • Combo chains: consecutive correct responses DIFFICULTY SCALING: • Easy: 4 color stimuli (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow) • Medium: 5 color stimuli (adds Purple) • Hard: 6 color stimuli (adds Orange) DATA PRIVACY: All data is stored locally via UserDefaults. No network requests are made. No personal information is collected, transmitted, or shared. The app functions completely offline.
