About
Please note: This app is currently available in Japanese only. Wadokei is an app for reading the “koku” of Japan’s Edo-period temporal hour system, adjusted to your current location and the season. Because day and night are each divided into six parts, a daytime koku is longer in summer, while a nighttime koku is longer in winter. Enjoy a sense of time shaped by the sun and daily life, unlike the modern 24-hour clock, through a dial inspired by traditional Japanese perpetual clocks. Main Features: - Shows the current koku using the zodiac sign and traditional bell name - Calculates the length of day and night based on Akemutsu and Kuremutsu - Supports location presets in Japan and around the world - Calculates koku using your current location - Shows moon age, the 24 solar terms, and the sexagenary cycle - Supports Apple Watch, complications, and Smart Stack - Lets you schedule notifications for twilight times Location information is used only when you select your current location, and only to calculate koku on your device. Precise latitude and longitude are not shown in settings or screenshots, and are never sent externally. Time that stretches and contracts with the seasons is something a modern clock alone cannot reveal. Look up at today’s sky, and let it overlap with the hours of Edo.
