Hi! This is the biggest Orso update yet, and I put a lot of care into making it a pleasure to use • New design for iOS 27: I reworked the screens, cards and stats so everything feels consistent and nice to hold • Spaced repetition. The Learn tab now works like a study session: words you're about to forget come back right on time, and the ones you know stop getting in your way. The Quiz follows the same schedule and starts with a placement test • Saying it out loud comes first. The app now opens on the Speak tab, and the screen itself is brand new: words are transcribed live, you see "You said" next to "Expected", plus "Try again", "Show answer" and "Count it" • Recognition got friendlier: similar-sounding words and near misses now count. And if the app still gets it wrong, you can count the phrase yourself • The widget now shows what's due for review first and gently reminds you about it • Added 592 new phrases across 22 topics: conversations, work, money, feelings, weather, idioms and more. Each one comes with a translation and pronunciation guide • Reworked the welcome flow: three short steps. Pick your native language, level and minutes per day, then straight to your first word • Settings moved to the fifth tab and got tidier, and reminder times now have their own screen • Refreshed the speaking stats screen • Fixed the day around midnight: your goal, streak and new-card limit could be counted wrong before • Fixed crashes when starting the microphone and playback Thanks for learning a language with Orso. Hey! I built Orso because I was tired of grinding English out of textbooks and wanted an app I could just talk to — a couple of minutes a day, in between everything else. Here's what came out of it. SPEAK OUT LOUD You read a phrase, say it — and Orso listens and tells you whether you nailed it. It's not a "pick the right option" quiz, it's real speech: you actually say English out loud instead of just silently recognizing it. BUILD THE PHRASE LIKE A GAME Don't know a phrase? Build it from shuffled words with a few extra ones thrown in. It sticks in your head far better than just peeking at the answer. THE COURSE ADAPTS TO YOU You start with simple words, then move to phrases and full sentences. Cruising through? Orso raises the bar. Starting to stumble? It brings back the easier stuff. You don't set anything up — it finds your level on its own. ANY TOPIC YOU NEED Heading on a trip, prepping for an interview, or just hooked on some word? Type a topic or a list of words and Orso generates a set of phrases with translation and pronunciation. Not enough? It makes more. You learn exactly what you need. WORDS RIGHT ON YOUR SCREEN Put a widget on your lock or home screen, and every time you unlock your phone you catch a new word. Plus a "word of the day" with a reminder at a time that suits you.
