Your opponents finally talk all the way through a game. They used to speak at four moments: hello, who's ahead, you won, you lost. Everything in between was silence. Now they speak at all twenty - taking a piece, losing one, a long think, a lucky roll, a comeback - and each moment is delivered differently. A long think is unhurried. A lucky roll is delighted. Digby still isn't very good at any of this, and still says so. Every game now has one clear set of rules. There used to be two: an Easy Read that left things out, and Full Rules that was a wall. Now there is one, and every game answers the same five questions in the same order - Goal, Setup, Playing, Special rules, Winning - so you learn the shape once and it works everywhere. New artwork on the game cards. Some games were sharing a picture. Checkers, International Draughts, Russian Checkers and Turkish Dama all looked identical, which is a shame when Turkish Dama is played on a plain board with the men in solid ranks. Each one is its own game now. Better on iPad. The main screens were a phone layout stretched across a big screen. Also: the lesson tells you what it covers before you start, the badges page shows what you can reach today instead of a wall of locked ones, and the sounds you hear most stopped repeating one recording.

About
Meet your new favorite opponents. Boardalo brings 37 timeless board and tabletop games together in one calm, beautifully hand-crafted app, and pairs them with a cast of illustrated AI characters who talk, have personality, and remember every game you've played against them. Play free, then unlock everything once for a single small price. No ads. No subscriptions. No in-app currency. No internet required. THE COLLECTION (37 games) Chess, Checkers, International, Russian & Turkish Checkers, Backgammon, Tavla, Go, Xiangqi, Reversi, Nine Men's Morris, Hnefatafl, Mancala, Oware & Kalaha, Ludo, Chinese Checkers, Halma, Snakes & Ladders, Royal Game of Ur, Yut Nori, Senet, Mahjong Solitaire, Klondike, Peg Solitaire, Dominoes, Yatzy, Sudoku, Shut the Box, Sea Battle, Tic-Tac-Toe, Drop Four, Gomoku, Hex, Dots & Boxes, Paper Soccer, Crokinole, and Carrom. AN OPPONENT THAT ACTUALLY THINKS Chess, Checkers, Reversi, Draughts and Xiangqi run a real search: it reads several moves ahead, remembers positions it has already worked out, and plays the openings it knows by heart. Difficulty is how long it gets to think rather than a fixed depth, so it stays sharp on an older phone. Standard is free on the free games, with no random slips, so you can find out whether the computer is worth playing before you decide whether to buy anything. OPPONENTS WITH PERSONALITY Climb a ladder of illustrated characters, each with their own voice, moods, and playing style, all the way to a secret final boss. They remember your head-to-head record and react to every win, loss, and comeback. It's not a difficulty slider; it's a rival worth beating. LEARN ANY GAME IN MINUTES Every game includes an interactive, coached "learn to play" lesson. Tap through real moves with a friendly guide. No rulebook, no video, no jargon. MADE FOR REAL LIFE - Fully offline, so you can play on a plane, a train, or off the grid - Pass-and-play two-player on a single device - Universal, built for both iPhone and iPad - Localised into 14 languages - VoiceOver and Dynamic Type support PAY ONCE, THAT'S IT Ten games are free forever, including Senet, the Royal Game of Ur and Viking Hnefatafl. One simple unlock opens the entire collection forever. It works with Family Sharing too, so one purchase covers everyone in your family group. We don't sell ads, we don't track you, and we'll never ask for a subscription. Boardalo is the board-game shelf you'll actually want to open: quiet, premium, and full of character.
