Wordstream: Speed Reader

About

Wordstream shows you one word at a time, in one place, so your eyes stop travelling across the line and your reading stops being limited by how fast they can move. Each word is positioned so that its optimal recognition point — the letter your eye naturally lands on, marked in red — falls in the same spot every time. Nothing to track, nothing to drift back and re-read. FIND YOUR SPEED FIRST On first launch Wordstream reads a short passage to you, opening gently and gradually picking up pace. About a minute later it tells you the speed you actually held, and sets that as your default. No slider to guess at. BRING YOUR OWN DOCUMENTS Import TXT, EPUB, DOCX, HTML and Markdown files from your device or iCloud Drive. Your place is kept in every one, so you can put a document down and pick it up where you left it. CONTROLS THAT STAY OUT OF THE WAY • 100 to 1000 words per minute, adjustable while you read • Warm-up eases into your speed at the start of a session • Skip back or forward a sentence, or hold to move by paragraph • Adjustable text size • Dark and light themes SEE YOUR PROGRESS A reading streak, total words read, your average pace over the past week, and a chart of the last seven days. COMPLETELY FREE No subscription, no in-app purchases, no advertising and no account. Wordstream has no servers: everything stays on your device and it works entirely offline.
