“Of the existing things, some are within our power, others are not.” — Epictetus. We often spend energy on things that are not within our control: we get angry about traffic jams, worry about other people’s opinions, and try to change the past. This illusion of control gives rise to anxiety. In the new Aurelius update, we present the “Dichotomy of Control” — a fundamental Stoic practice brought right to the main screen. It’s a tool for surgically separating your experiences in the moment. Did a quarrel happen? Open Aurelius. In the “Not Mine” column, send the tone of the interlocutor and their opinion. In the “Mine” column, send your reaction and inner peace. We deliberately abandoned gamification, charts, and history. The events you share live for only one day and disappear at midnight. Stoicism teaches you to live in the present: yesterday’s worries no longer matter. Only your skill in creating a pause between the stimulus and the reaction today matters. Bring the focus back to what is truly within your control.

About

"Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one." — Marcus Aurelius, X.16 Aurelius is not a mood tracker or a collection of inspiring quotes. It's an uncompromising tool for daily Askesis. We bring philosophy back into practice so your efforts find their true purpose.
